Video call/conference may look like fun, just press a button and you are able to connect with a person who is miles away from you or in the nearby room. But have you ever wondered how this process of video conferencing  works and how the audio at one end reaches at other. So let us discuss about various technical details behind video conferencing .

Components and Working  in Video Call

There are various components which constitute to the final outcome on the screen in a video conferencing meeting and some of them are listed and discussed below.

Input device of Video Call

The input device is the peripheral which is connected at the sender end to collect the data in form of signal and there are two types of input devices needed in this type of communication.

Input audio device

The input audio device is responsible for converting audio voice in form of 1’s and 0’s which are then transmitted through the sender so they can be intercepted at the receiver end.

Input video device

This device is connected at the user end and this device collects image signals or video signals which are broken down in form of data packets and then shared over the server.

Medium

The propagating medium plays a major role in communication as it makes it easier for people to communicate and connect two devices over the vast internet .

Data packets/Data compression

This is the first process of video conferencing in which the entire audio and video data is broken down in form of data packets. Now these data packets follow a network architecture and are shared over the network. Even if someone is able to break in the network then also they would able to get very few data packets which would keep entire data safe.

Coder decoder

The coder decoder acts like a modem (Modulator Demodulator) and the task of this device is to ensure that signals are transmitted in manner of binary code. The coder end is placed at the sender end and the decoder is placed at the receiver end , the coded message is then decoded and intercepted by the server.

Echo cancellation

When audio signals are transmitted over a network then various signals interfere with them which results in noise in the audio which makes the message non-comprehensible. So an advanced echo cancellation software is used by people which makes it easier to cancel out echo and noise in the audio signal to make it more cleat and efficient.

Voip Protocols

There are various written set of rules which need to followed when data is shared between two system. These written set of rules are known as Protocols , various transfer protocols and Voice Over Internet Protocol are used by system to share these data packets. When the verification from the system and the server are given then the communication is established.

Output device

At the receiver end there are various components which complete this method of communication and these are listed below.

Firewalls

At the receiver end the first terminal of the architecture seeks for firewall which checks for all the data packets and ensures that no trackers or malicious data is allowed to enter the system. Then the decoder starts compiling data to ensure all the data packets are transferred and decoded.

Output audio

Once the audio signals are checked and decoded now they are send to the audio output device connected to the system and change of decibels and frequency is applied to produce required sound.

Output video

The pixel data in video signals is decoded by the system and a visible image is displayed on the screen which makes it easier for people to communicate.
